Metaverse

The metaverse and Web3 are supposedly two trends that have the potential to revolutionize the world but Elon Musk is not of the same opinion. Metaverse refers to the idea of a virtual universe that users access through augmented reality and other technology. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg changed Facebook’s name to Meta in a nod to the idea that people will soon socialize, play games and create art in the metaverse. In a recent interview, he said that the concept of rebuilding internet services around blockchain and cryptocurrency is not that compelling. He also admitted that he might be too “old” for these new technologies to sit well with him. Musk’s criticism of the Metaverse roots in the lack of compelling use-cases and a disappointing experience for customers. He thinks that it is not practical to literally strap a TV screen onto one’s face whenever they feel like watching. It is of great inconvenience to the user. Elsewhere, in an interview with The Babylon Bee – Musk talked about climate change and said that while he is not in the camp of global warming super-alarmists, he strongly believes that it is not a wise decision to pose more threat to the environment. He believes that there should be a regulatory agency to oversee “Advanced AI” which can be dangerous to the entire human race. There have been a lot of concerns in the tech space mainly about the dystopian implications of something like  Metaverse
